Day 33

I left the comforts of the motel in Rawlins and most likely was going to have to wilderness camp. There were some isolated thunderstorms that I was following. At one point I decided to get off my bike and eat lunch under my tent footprint. There was some lightning and I'm a little scared of my bike being a lightning rod. Nothing much materialized out of the storm, just light rain. I got to a pretty cool spot and pitched my tent. The map said it had an outhouse, but there was no outhouse. A firepit was about the only thing that made it a campsite. I really thought I was going to finally have a good wilderness camping experience. I filtered a bunch of water, made some tea, and got ready for bed. I listened to some Johnny Cash and looked through my pictures. (I think "A Boy Named Sue" might be one of my favorite songs of all time.) Then I turned everything off at about 10:30. I slept for a little bit, but then I heard coyotes/wolves howling at the moon at about 12:30 so my good night pretty much went out the window. I ended up with about 4 hours of sleep. Not great, but I think it was better than my last time.
