Day 7

I decided I would try to make it to Whitefish. The rest of the descent was again not so glorious, just going downhill. Then I made my way around on some dusty gravel roads before going up Red Meadow Lake pass. On my way up I experienced my first rain with a little hail mixed in. It was almost a little refreshing after all the dust and hard work climbing up the mountain. It had stopped by the time I got to the top and Red Meadow Lake was very scenic and gave me a chance to dry off some my clothes. Then I started down the mountain. In 4 miles I lost about 1000 feet in elevation and I don't think I hardly turned my pedals. It was like an amusement park ride. It was fantastic, maybe even a little glorious. I camped at a KOA campground in Whitefish that had a hot shower and a good breakfast. I'm about 320 miles into the 2,900 mile trip.

  1. Our old neighbors (Mike and Beth) were planning to start a restaurant in Whitefish - Mexican I think.

You were so close to Polebridge! You missed out on a good hippie town and some tasty bratwurst.

Looks like you are enjoying some gorgeous scenery!

I am back in the cities now and plan on checking for your updates every day. I am glad you decided to blog the journey!
