Day 2

I got going on Day 2 at about 10:00. It took 2 1/2 hours to make breakfast and pack up all my dang camping gear. That took a little longer than I anticipated. Hopefully I will get better in the future. It turned out to be another pretty good climbing day. At about mile 25 i was on this dusty gravel road, and it was pretty much a relentless climb for what felt like hours. I stopped at a little turnout and made some spaghetti. I got the spaghetti made, and then ran out of fuel on my first canister. Then I got my second canister out and it turned out that that had the wrong nozzle for the my stove. Grrr. So it went from bad to worse. By the time I got to my campground I was exhausted. The scenery along the way was out of this world, but i felt like I just went through a meatgrinder. I think i climbed to about 6200 feet and then came back down a little to 5800 feet when I stopped.

  1. Fun to see your photos and hear how your trip is going! Your hair doesn't look as bad as I expected it to. ; ) Sounds like you are smart to be giving yourself a little slack while you get adjusted to the altitude. Hope you have a good 4th of July weekend!
