Day 1
My parents dropped my off in Banff Canada on June 28th and from there I started out on my long trek to Mexico. About 3 miles down the trail I couldn't shift out of my lowest gear. I was having a mild panic attack. I'm three miles down the road and I already have a breakdown! But it turned out that a small stone got wedged in the mechanism and once I got that out it worked just fine. I started at 4700 feet in elevation and I climbed to about 5400 feet. I started out slow and only did about 18 miles. It still took me almost 3 hours, and I was plenty tired. I got to this pretty remote campsite and pitched my tent. On my maps it says you will be surprised how quickly you are whisked into a country possessing a very wild and remote feel. Well i definitely felt it that night. I had talked to a bike shop guy in Banff and he got my Dad all worked up about bears, and made me a little nervous too. So I was a little paranoid about that. I don't think I have too much Alexander Supertramp in me. It was awesome scenery and cool to be out in the wild, but a little scary too.
Dude. What happened to the hair. Why the hair???? You gotta grow the hair back!
